APR Learning Institute: Cultivating Environments to Proactively Support Students with Complex Needs

This session is designed to provide special education and building administrators with researched based strategies and resources to proactively sustain a more inclusive school community for students with the most complex needs. Participants will have opportunities to engage in small group sessions, network with job-alike peers, and identify individualized areas of growth that they would like to continue to be supported with.
Participants will rotate through mini sessions on the following topics:
- Fostering Family Engagement and Sense of Belonging
- Supporting Successful Post Secondary Outcomes for Complex Instructional Needs
- Providing High Quality Instruction for Students with Complex Instructional Needs
- Proactively Planning for Access and Meaningful Participation Across All School Settings
The session will conclude with time provided for participants to share, network, and establish goal areas and success measures. Participants will leave with resources and "take aways" to support them in their work.
Objectives
At the end of this training, participants will be able to:
Identify barriers in their existing environment
Describe next steps in creating a sense of belonging in their school community
Design meaningful post-secondary planning and foster community partnerships
Discuss high quality standards aligned instruction
Describe a plan for increasing access and meaningful participation across all school settings
Target Audience
Special Education Administrators and Building Administrators who are supporting students with complex instructional needs.
