This workshop will explore the importance of effective family engagement in a successful inclusive early childhood program. Participants will discuss diversity, equity, and cultural competence as core components of high-quality early childhood education programs. Teams will present updates on their action plans and ask their colleagues for suggestions on an issue where they need additional support.

Objectives

Participants will:

  1. Identify strategies for effective family engagement in early childhood education and early intervention.
  2. Describe cultural humility and discuss implications for early childhood education and early intervention.
  3. List three solutions for a proposed scenario regarding a barrier to effective family engagement.

Target Audience

This training is for invited Early Intervention and Early Childhood administrators and staff only.
