Participants will build upon and/or acquire additional expertise in the completion of the RTI/SLD Application and associated requirements within the BSE Approval Process. Each PaTTAN site will feature an RTI/SLD approved school, who will present on their process, current practices and application for group review, analysis and discussion. In addition, participants will review PaTTAN’s MTSS Fidelity Tool: Enhancing Response to Intervention (RTI) that was designed for multi-purpose use by LEAs and consultants.
Participants will be able to:
- Summarize federal law and rationale for RTI/SLD
- Articulate the timeline and procedural steps associated with BSE approval process
- Identify typical errors that LEAs make with application completion and work to actively prevent them
- List key features associated with effective implementation of a multi-tiered system by an approved RTI/SLD school
- Cite evidence from an exemplar RTI/SLD approved school to operationalize best practices and research in SLD identification
- Describe how use PaTTAN’s MTSS Fidelity Tool in order to support LEAs with evaluation of fidelity of their MTSS system toward reliable and valid use of RTI within eligibility process
- Develop action-plan using MTSS Fidelity Tool with one or more LEAs and report on process during whole group debrief
