This training will provide an overview of the rationale, development and use of an internally developed software system to be used in a mixed and varied format of discrete trial instruction for students with autism. Instructional programs captured by the system address instruction for primary verbal operants as well as related operants (imitation, listener responding). Participants will gain skills related to use of the software during instructional interactions as well as basic information related to inputting specific student programs into the format, managing data systems, and other technical aspects of the operating system.

Objectives

Participants will:

  • Identify key components of the instructional software and the rationale for the inclusion of various functions and display properties.
  • Practice use of the system across both student and teacher display platforms.
  • List key issues related to teacher-student interaction for use of the software that allow meaningful development of social-communication.
