As it pertains to reading, participants will be provided with the opportunity to review implementation lessons and caveats related to effective core and supplemental evidence-based practices. In addition, participants will understand the use of RtI methodologies within the SLD determination process for reading relative to SLD guidelines, PaTTAN’s approval process and team efforts throughout this series.

Objectives

Participants will be able to:

  • List technically adequate assessment procedures for reading to be used in SLD determination
  • Define procedures for ruling out other factors and a lack of instruction as potential explanations for a student’s poor response to intervention and growth in reading
  • Describe some of the key differences that factor into eligibility decisions
