In Module 7 the sequence and substance of concept development in code-based instruction is emphasized, including the importance of applying learned skills to reading and writing. (Focus: Kindergarten through Second Grade; Remedial Instruction)
Objectives
Module 7 Attendees will:
- Consider the advantages of a core reading program, based on scientific research.
- Learn and Practice Techniques for teaching phoneme-grapheme association
- Identify types of controlled texts for beginners and their appropriate uses
Target Audience
Teachers of reading and spelling, including literacy consultants, coaches, reading specialists, special education teachers, regular education teachers, and general and special education administrators.
Individuals attending this course must arrive on time and stay the duration of the course in order to receive Act 48 Professional Education hours. Requests for exceptions are to be brought to the attention of the individual´s Superintendent or IU Director prior to the course.
Target Audience
All participants are required to take Module 1 prior to participation in Modules 2 through 12.
