Before the school year begins, paraeducators need initial training to understand their role in the classroom and to learn the essential foundational knowledge and skills needed to assist a special education teacher. School districts also need to provide ongoing training throughout the year. This session highlights key components of initial paraeducator training, recommendations for ongoing professional development, and an overview of tools for feedback and evaluation that are essential to helping a paraeducator become a team-oriented instructional aid.
Target Audience
General education and special education administrators and teachers, paraprofessionals, school psychologists, professional development staff, and families of students with disabilities are encouraged to attend.
Reasonable efforts will be made to accommodate individuals who have special needs as addressed by the Americans with Disabilities Act and who need assistance at this event. Contact: Debra Jordan, at [(610) 878-7224, or
