With continued emphasis on inclusive practices, paraeducators are increasingly relied upon as an integral part of instructional service delivery for students with disabilities. However, research consistently reveals that the effective use of paraeducators depends largely on the leadership and direction provided by the teacher. This presentation provides an overview of the responsibilities outlined in IDEA for administration and teachers regarding paraeducator supervision and how to create a teacher and paraeducator team-oriented approach to working with students with disabilities.

Target Audience

General education and special education administrators and teachers, paraprofessionals, school psychologists, professional development staff, and families of students with disabilities are encouraged to attend.
