40. Using Unified Sports and Inclusive Youth Leadership to Invigorate Inclusive School Communities
Session Dates
Thursday March 02, 2023 2:15 PM - 3:15 PM - Webinar
Closed
What happens when students with and without disabilities come together as teammates on their school's Unified Sports team or as members of an inclusive youth leadership club? They create a culture where everyone is respected and valued, attitudes change for the better, students are empowered, and the school community is uplifted. Please join us to learn more about how Special Olympics Pennsylvania's Unified Champion Schools (UCS) program is helping to create positive change in more than 360 schools throughout the state and how you can become part of the Inclusion Revolution as a new UCS school! You will hear from teachers and students who will share their experiences. We also will share compelling research data that shows the positive impact on students with and without disabilities. This session will provide you with exciting ways your school can promote the values of inclusion, respect, and understanding, which are so needed.
Target Audience
General education and special education administrators and teachers, paraprofessionals, school psychologists, professional development staff, and families of students with disabilities are encouraged to attend.
