2. Creating a Sense of Belonging: The Art of Nurturing the Family-Professional Partnership
Session Dates
Wednesday March 01, 2023 2:45 PM - 3:45 PM - Webinar
Closed
The majority of special education literature reports that many families of students with disabilities do not feel included or respected throughout the Individualized Education Program (IEP) meeting process. This presentation will focus on key family-professional partnership barriers that take place during the IEP meeting process, as well as identify strategies aimed to address these barriers by creating a sense of belonging and generating an equitable and trusting relationship with families. Content will be presented by bridging research with practice to better understand the science behind nurturing the family-professional partnership, so that students with disabilities can grow academically, socially, emotionally, and behaviorally.
Target Audience
General education and special education administrators and teachers, paraprofessionals, school psychologists, professional development staff, and families of students with disabilities are encouraged to attend.
Reasonable efforts will be made to accommodate individuals who have special needs as addressed by the Americans with Disabilities Act and who need assistance at this event. Contact: Debra Jordan, at [(610) 878-7224, or
