John Steinbeck wrote, "Teaching might be the greatest of the arts, because the medium is the human mind and spirit." From an early age, teachers had a profound impact on Lisa Lee. The lessons they taught extended far beyond the classroom, and their commitment and love sustained her through many turbulent years while she was growing up. Today Lisa is a 36-year teaching veteran, and still going strong with no plans to retire as of yet! The lessons she learned from her own teachers made education a natural field in which to spend her life, knowing that she had a lot of paying forward to do. Just as Lisa’s teachers transformed her during her developmental years, the hundreds of students that she has encountered in almost four decades of teaching have also influenced her in ways she never anticipated. In a day when educators are leaving in droves, when some colleges of education are shuttering their doors permanently, this message is more important than it has ever been. Things like government mandates, curriculum controversies, and excessive workloads make being a teacher more challenging than ever before. Today, Lisa wants to celebrate with other artists of the mind and spirit what she considers the most important profession of all, the one that touches all other professions.
