2023 Pennsylvania Department of Education (In-Person) Conference
52. Schools’ Support for Parents of Student with Disabilities: Statewide Survey Results
Session Dates
Friday March 03, 2023 8:30 AM - 9:30 AM - Hershey Lodge and Convention Center
Closed
Since 2006, states have been required to report annually on the percent of parents with a child receiving special education services who perceive that schools are adequately supporting their educational involvement. To fulfill this requirement, Pennsylvania surveys a representative sample of parents each year and reports the results to the federal government and the public. This session provides an opportunity for parents, teachers, administrators, advocates, and other stakeholders to learn about the results of Pennsylvania’s 2022 statewide survey and what the results tell us about the state’s progress in supporting parent involvement. This year’s session will also zoom out to the national level to put Pennsylvania’s performance in a broader context. Participants may be surprised to learn how much states differ from one another in terms of what counts as a “positive response” on this important performance indicator.
Target Audience
General education and special education administrators and teachers, paraprofessionals, school psychologists, professional development staff, and families of students with disabilities are encouraged to attend.
Reasonable efforts will be made to accommodate individuals who have special needs as addressed by the Americans with Disabilities Act and who need assistance at this event. Contact: Debra Jordan at (610) 878-7224 or
