During this Session, attendees will gain a better understanding of what is included in the Learning Media Assessment (LMA) for students with Cortical Visual Impairment (CVI). In addition, attendees will have an opportunity to learn about key parts of the book, "Sensory Balance: An Approach to Learning Media Planning for Students with CVI" (Roman-Lantzy and Tietjen, 2020).

Participants will be able to:

  • Discuss why it is important to look at all sensory learning channels in multiple settings when completing the LMA for a student with CVI.
  • Identify at least 3 different "Plans" available for use to develop visual learning.
  • Discuss the importance of backlighting in accessing visual learning media and discuss strategies for providing backlighting.
