This keynote speech will highlight the importance of creating a respectful space within the Deaf/HoH community to allow Deaf and HoH individuals to have a presence in policy and practices that affect and influence the future of the Deaf community's role in American society.

Participants will be able to:

  • Observe and identify current factors that affect the Deaf/HoH community in today's society.
  • Analyze their contributions to aforementioned factors, and recognize actions and practices that may affect the Deaf/HoH community in either a beneficial or harmful manner.
  • Practice actions and approaches that facilitate Deaf/HoH representation in Deaf/HoH community matters.
