2022 HELIX In-Person Experience: High Expectations for Students with Low Incidence Disabilities
27. Inclusion is FAB-ulous: Introducing the Framework for Access and Belonging
Tuesday November 15, 2022 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM - The Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel
The Supplementary Aids and Services Consideration Toolkit has undergone a renovation by prioritizing areas for brainstorming and planning, facilitating all team members’ input, including the student, and enabling action planning and follow up support. The resulting process is called the Framework for Action and Belonging (FAB), and consists of surveying team members, developing a plan for implementation, and monitoring the student’s progress. During the session, participants will be provided with an overview of the foundational concepts of the FAB process and a tour of the revised components, including surveys, online application, and brainstorming and teaming tools.
Participants will be able to:
- Identify the foundational concepts of the FAB process.
- Describe the three phases of the FAB process.
- Practice using the revised components of surveys, online application, and related tools.
Teachers, administrators, speech language pathologists, related service providers, consultants, training and consulting staff, paraprofessionals, family members
Reasonable efforts will be made to accommodate individuals who have special needs as addressed by the Americans with Disabilities Act and who need assistance at this event. Contact: Annette Bauerlein, at 810-878-7211, or firstname.lastname@example.org
