Morphological Awareness is emerging as the new Awareness for teachers to pay attention to. First we had phonological awareness, now morphological awareness! What is a teacher to make of this? This session will remove some of the mystery around this concept and help teachers in the early grades understand what this means for their instruction. Morphology is closely tied to oral language and orthography in the early grades. Teachers will gain appreciation for their own morphological awareness and gain techniques to develop their students' knowledge and awareness too. (k-2)
