The day will highlight researchers and practitioners, influential at the regional, state, and national level. Current topics in the field of education including equity, diversity, cultural responsiveness, leadership, implementation and foundational skills instruction are interwoven throughout the day.
Objectives:
At the end of this training, participants will be able to:
- Define the Science of Reading
- Define the components of effective literacy instruction and intervention
- Explain the independent contributions each strand of the reading rope adds to skilled reading
- Define how reading develops and the critical contributors at different phases through adolescence
- Describe system-wide practices aligned with the science of reading
- Explain first and second language development and its relation to literacy and language variation

Elementary Educators, Secondary Educators, Special Education Teachers, Speech Language Practitioners, School Leaders/Administrators, Reading Specialists, Teachers of English Language Learners, Literacy Coaches, Instructional Support Team Members, School Psychologists, Pre-Service Teachers, Higher Education Instructors, Paraprofessionals, and Families
