36. Phonological Awareness Phacts: PA Across the Day

Phonological awareness is a vital foundation in learning to read and write. With advances in neuroimaging, science has established deeper understandings of these important phonological foundations. This session will describe the PHacts of phonological skill development, the most valuable predictive skills across a range of ages, and a Phew strategies to help students develop these skills.
Objectives/Skills/Knowledge to be gained:
- Describe the interconnected relationship among phonological and phonemic awareness, phonological processing, phonological sensitivity, phonological representation, and phonics.
- Describe the developmental sequences and age expectations for phonological and phonemic awareness across the earliest grades.
- Implement research-based routines and strategies for instruction and intervention.
Credits available for this session include: Act 48 clock hours, ASHA
Target Audience
PAPBS network facilitators, School and program-wide PBIS coaches, District and school level leadership teams, Regular and Special Educators, including EL and early childhood educators, Behavioral specialists (school counselors, school psychologists), Behavioral and mental health providers, District and state policy makers, Family members and caregivers, SBBH Community of Practice members
