33. Developing Culturally & Linguistically Sustaining MTSS for Multilingual Learners

In this session, the presenter will share various frameworks that school teams may use to make their existing MTSS processes more culturally and linguistically sustaining. Participants will look at observable student behaviors from a language learner as well as an exceptional learner lens and consider the implications for problem-solving with bilingual learners.
The presenter will review seven integral factors that impact achievement and well-being for bilingual learners and apply these factors in a case study example. Participants will receive take away tools and resources for use with school-based teams.
Credits available for this session include: Act 48 clock hours, ASHA
Target Audience
PAPBS network facilitators, School and program-wide PBIS coaches, District and school level leadership teams, Regular and Special Educators, including EL and early childhood educators, Behavioral specialists (school counselors, school psychologists), Behavioral and mental health providers, District and state policy makers, Family members and caregivers, SBBH Community of Practice members
