During this networking session, Educational Audiologists will learn about the newest technologies in Hearing Assistive Technology that can be used in the educational setting through a presentation from Oticon and Phonak. Attendees will also be provided with specialized knowledge and techniques for cochlear implantation in pediatric patients with unilateral hearing loss. Participants will explore assessment criteria, candidacy considerations, and post-implantation rehabilitation strategies to optimize auditory outcomes in school settings.

Objectives

Participants will be able to do the following:

- Explain the new advances in hearing assistive technology (HAT) and hearing aids
- Describe how the HAT can effectively be used in the educational setting
- Describe the candidacy for specific HAT systems
- Describe the process for implanting unilateral hearing loss in the pediatric population
