Learn the foundational information needed to support families who have children with deafness or hearing loss as an Early Intervention professional. Build your knowledge and skills regarding the types of hearing loss, testing, available technologies, communication modalities, ways to support children and recommended practices for Pennsylvania.

Objectives

Participants will be able to:

  1. Identify type, degree, and location of hearing loss.
  2. Differentiate detection and testing processes.
  3. Describe communication modalities.
  4. Identify different hearing technology devices.
  5. Name the considerations for supporting the wellbeing of children with hearing loss.
  6. Recall the Pennsylvania recommended practices to support children with hearing loss and their families.
