Pennsylvania’s multi-tiered system of support (MTSS) is a comprehensive school improvement framework that includes a continuum of evidence-based academic, behavioral, and social-emotional supports to meet the needs of all students, including students with disabilities. Joining PaTTANpod to share a success story about Tier 2 supports in literacy are Shelley West from Shaler Area School District and Laura Miller from AIU3.

Shelley West is a 7th and 8th grade Reading Intervention Teacher at Shaler Area Middle School. Shelley has been teaching for 29 years. She has her undergraduate degree from Penn State University, and her master's degree from SUNY Fredonia.
Dr. Laura Miller is a Training and Consultation Coordinator at Allegheny Intermediate Unit 3. She has also served as an educational consultant, assistant principal, dean of students, and 7th-11th grade ELA teacher during her 18-year career. She holds a Doctorate in Education in Leadership and Administration from Point Park University, a Superintendent Letter of Eligibility from California University, and a Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Clarion University.
