Information for Parents
The Pennsylvania Department of Education’s Bureau of Special Education and the Pennsylvania Training and Technical Assistance Network (PaTTAN) and the pleased to offer a limited number of parent scholarships to Pennsylvania residents who have school-age children (K-21) with a current IEP. This conference provides information to educators and families who support students who have low-incidence disabilities. Specifically, the conference focuses on hearing loss, blind or visual impairments, deaf-blind, traumatic brain injury, intellectual disabilities, and complex communication needs.
Those employed by any of the following: school, district, charter school, Intermediate Unit, Parent Training and Information Center (PTI), Community Parent Resource Center (CPRC), or other federally-funded educational or advocacy organization are not eligible for a scholarship and should seek funding through their employer/organization.
A partial scholarship covers the cost of the conference registration. A full scholarship covers the cost of registration and lodging for those traveling 50 miles or more. Please note: scholarships do not include travel expenses; all participants will need to provide their own transportation.
Scholarship application deadline is October 12, 2018. Preference will be given to applicants who have a child with a low incidence disability and who have not received a low incidence scholarship previously. You will be notified of the decision on your scholarship two weeks prior to the HELIX Conference. Conference registration and session attendance is required for each applicant to participate in conference amenities.
