This two-part series for administrators will present a deep dive into Family Engagement from multiple perspectives. We will examine family engagement research, strategies, and best practices that can be implemented in a variety of different settings. Practical experiences from family members will be shared. Action steps for developing the capacity of schools and families to form meaningful and productive partnerships for improving student outcomes will be discussed. Day 1 Description Part one of this training series will explore the definition of family engagement, the impact of communication with families and establishing effective strategies for enhancing family engagement practices.

Day 2 Description Part two of this training series will examine approaches to identify family engagement stakeholders, emphasize the centrality of family and youth voices in the family engagement process and review virtual tools to maximize family engagement practices.

Check In Check Out (CICO) is a highly effective research based strategy used to provide students with additional academic or behavioral feedback and reinforcement. The strategy, typically applied in the school setting, can be successfully implemented in the home environment to extend learning and consistency. During this webinar, PaTTAN consultants and participating LEA members discuss the components of the CICO strategy and explain how to support the use of this strategy at home.

This session will provide participants up to date information about the Alternate Eligible Content which is aligned to the PA Core Standards. The Alternate Eligible Content will be used for assessment of students eligible for the PASA. Examples of the content as it relates to IEP development and instruction will be shared. Participants will be asked to complete a short survey upon registration that will provide opportunity for input to the content.

This webinar provides an overview of built-in accessibility tools, Windows operating system features, and common productivity tools that can be useful to students with high-incidence disabilities (e.g., dyslexia, learning disabilities). It includes discussion and demonstration of third-party tools that are available at low or no-cost to serve the same purposes. Participants will also find the information useful for incorporating Universal Design for Learning (UDL) approaches to their instruction and supports.

This session will focus on how literature can help enrich children's lives as they see their own lives reflected in the pages, experience lives and stories that are different from their own, and learn to feel empathy for the characters in the stories.
