Map It-What Comes Next is an interactive, accessible online transition training developed for deaf and hard of hearing youth. This two day training will walk professionals through Map It and demonstrate how to use it in the classroom with students. The core topics will include preparing students for transition after high school, supporting student development of self-advocacy and self-determination, helping students develop realistic future goals, supporting student led IEP meetings, and compliance with Indicator 13 requirements.
Objectives
Participants will be able to:
- Demonstrate proficient navigation through the online Map It training program
- Summarize key tools and assessments in the Map It program
- Identify other pepnet 2 products and resources available to support their work with students
- Explain the importance of self-advocacy skills for students and be able to assist students in its development
Target Audience
This training is for teachers of the deaf, transition specialists, vocational rehabilitation counselors, parents and administrators.
Individuals attending this course must arrive on time and stay the duration of the course in order to receive Act 48 Professional Education hours. Requests for exceptions are to be brought to the attention of the individual´s Superintendent or IU Director prior to the course.
