This professional development opportunity focuses on the WIDA English Language Development standards and how they relate to Scarborough's Rope. Also, evidence-based practices will be presented to provide guidance for successful implementation of language and literacy instruction for Multilingual Learners in an MTSS Framework. Emphasis will build on the premise that language is dynamic and not static for secondary students.
Objectives
Participants will:
- identify three ways to work with secondary students related to the complexity of language and literacy development for Multilingual Learners
- define and connect the WIDA English Language Development Standards to the components of the Scarborough Rope
- identify evidence-based practices for Secondary level Multilingual Learners within an MTSS framework
