2023 Pennsylvania Department of Education (In-Person) Conference
4. Equity-focused Universal Design for Transition
Session Dates
Wednesday March 01, 2023 2:45 PM - 3:45 PM - Hershey Lodge and Convention Center
Closed
Young adults with disabilities, particularly those from marginalized backgrounds, continue to experience the least successful postschool outcomes among transition-aged youth. The practice of linking academics and transition goals, or Universal Design for Transition (UDT), has been proposed as a roadmap for educators to plan instruction aimed at providing students with disabilities access to the general curriculum and transition services. This presentation will provide the audience with information about Universal Design for Transition framework through a culturally responsive and sustaining lens to support educators with providing effective transition education support to students who are most adversely affected by poor transition outcomes.
Target Audience
General education and special education administrators and teachers, paraprofessionals, school psychologists, professional development staff, and families of students with disabilities are encouraged to attend.
Reasonable efforts will be made to accommodate individuals who have special needs as addressed by the Americans with Disabilities Act and who need assistance at this event. Contact: Debra Jordan at (610) 878-7224 or
