The purpose of this seminar is to discuss evidence-based practices related to the clinical management of speech sound disorders (SSD) in children. Principles of phonological analysis, target selection, and intervention will be presented with emphasis on matching treatment to diagnosis for children who have SSD. Techniques and strategies will be presented for implementing intervention effectively and efficiently.

Objectives

At the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Complete phonological analyses of disordered speech using an error analysis (PVM analysis) and a systemic analysis (SPACS).
  • Apply current research evidence to design and implement an appropriate methodology for a child’s speech sound disorder.
  • Use clinical reasoning to select the most appropriate models for phonological analysis, target selection, and intervention.

Speech and language pathologist

Individuals attending this workshop must arrive on time and stay the duration of the workshop in order to receive Act 48 Professional Education hours.
