Getting Ready: Annual PA Alternate System of Assessment (PASA) Updates

The PA Department of Education, Bureau of Special Education (BSE), in partnership with PaTTAN will provide updates regarding the PA Alternate System of Assessment (PASA) based on the regulatory guidance of Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). PASA eligibility criteria, 1 percent cap, and waiver process will be addressed. New assessment information regarding enrollment, test levels, testing window, test security, and testing administration will be presented.

Objectives

Participants will:

  • List key changes in the PASA enrollment and administration process
  • identify mandates regarding the PASA 1% Cap and Waiver
  • Review PASA eligibility and determine how IEP teams can thoughtfully plan appropriate state-wide test participation for individual students.

Target Audience

Special Education Directors, PASA Testing Coordinators, and school staff supporting PASA Test Coordinators

Individuals attending this course must arrive on time and stay the duration of the course in order to receive Act 48 Professional Education hours. Requests for exceptions are to be brought to the attention of the individual´s Superintendent or IU Director prior to the course.
