Creating Comprehensive IEPs for Students Who are Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing

In this training, participants will review the purpose of each section of the IEP in order to develop effective practices for writing an IEP for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students. Participants will be provided with detailed information to encourage the development of person-centered transition plans, for students age 14 and older. Finally, participants will leave with the tools they need to develop IEPs that are aligned to state standards and legally compliant with state code for special education

Objectives

Participants will be able to:

  • Define effective and compliant Present Levels of Academic Achievement and Functional Performance (PLAAFP)
  • List 3 precise measurable annual goals
  • Design a transition plan that provides for a seamless process for identification of transition needs and services and that is person-centered and student focused

Audience

Pennsylvania teachers of students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing K-12, Speech-Language Pathologists, Special and General Education Teachers who support students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
