This session will provide the why, what and how of evaluating social emotional development as part of eligibility for Early Intervention.  Strategies will be provided for determining when a specialized evaluation tool is appropriate, and for gathering and interpreting information from a variety of sources.

Objectives

  1. Review the federal and state guidance on eligibility and evaluation for Early Intervention as it relates to social emotional development
  2. Define social-emotional competencies and constructs
  3. Identify red flags that suggest possible delays in social emotional development
  4. Review and consider appropriate tools for evaluating the social emotional development of infant, toddlers and preschool children

Target Audience

This event is intended for individuals and teams that are involved in planning and/or conducting evaluations with infants, toddlers or preschoolers to determine eligibility for early intervention.
