Participants will be provided with the opportunity to review implementation lessons and caveats related to effective writing practices. In addition, participants will understand the use of RtI methodologies within the SLD determination process for written expression relative to SLD guidelines, PaTTAN’s approval process and team efforts throughout this series.

 

Objectives

 

Participants will be able to:

  • List technically adequate assessment procedures for writing to be used in SLD determination
  • Define procedures for ruling out other factors and a lack of instruction as potential explanations for a student’s assessed deficiencies in writing
  • Describe some of the key differences that factor into eligibility decisions

Target Audience

Building level teams to include the following team members:
Building Principal, General Education Teacher(s), Special Education Teachers(s), School Psychologist, Speech Language Pathologist, Reading/Writing Specialist, Parent (optional), IU TaC (required),  MTSS Coordinator
