In this workshop, MTSS school teams will have an opportunity to review implementation lessons and caveats related to effective writing assessment and instruction. Project assessments will be reviewed and student data will be collectively analyzed. Participants will also review a continuum of writing measures that may be used as part of universal screening and progress-monitoring. Greater emphasis will be placed on assessing the quality of student writing through the use of analytic rubrics and six measurable aspects of written expression using writing CBM. Rate of Improvement calculation will be reviewed and applied to targeted students.
Objectives
Participants will be able to:
- Describe current measures that may be aggregated to determine grade level and individual progress toward improved writing outcomes.
- Refine existing universal screening process in writing and rate of improvement calculation.
- List a continuum of writing CBM practices to include 6 measurable components.
- Create next steps Analytic Rubric analysis.
Target Audience
Building level teams to include the following team members:
Building Principal, General Education Teacher(s), Special Education Teachers(s), School Psychologist, Speech Language Pathologist, Reading/Writing Specialist, Parent (optional), IU TaC (required), MTSS Coordinator
