Participants will develop knowledge and skills related to the different types of text used in reading instruction in the early grades. Participants will learn techniques to select and align text types to instructional goals to maximize student learning. Team presentations will then be conducted to demonstrate efforts related to enhancement of early literacy outcomes and tier 3 problem-solving efforts to date.

Objectives

  • Particpants will be able to:
  • List barriers to learning to read.
  • Compare and analyze differing text types and their uses.
  • Calculate Lesson-To-Text Match.
  • Determine when to use decodable and leveled text based on the instructional goal.

 

Target Audience

MTSS teams who have applied and been accepted to this series.

 

Individuals attending this course must arrive on time and stay the duration of the course in order to receive Act 48 Professional Education hours. Requests for exceptions are to be brought to the attention of the individual's Superintendent or IU Director prior to the course.
