This 2-day workshop will guide educational interpreters to understand how to incorporate these idiomatic expressions into your everyday use of ASL. Participants will view examples and practice how to translate idiomatic expressions within ASL and English. This workshop provides a unique learning experience necessary for the appropriate use and understanding of ASL.
This workshop will be presented entirely in ASL.
Objectives
- Understand how to incorporate these idiomatic expressions into your everyday use of ASL.
- Learn how to translate idiomatic expressions within ASL and English.
- Select some idioms in ASL that provide a unique learning experience necessary for the appropriate use and understanding of ASL.
- Participants will be actively engaged in hands-up activities to enhance awareness of contextual clues based on idioms and assist them in incorporating these features into classroom interpretations.
Target Audience
Educational Interpreters working in the K-12 setting in Pennsylvania Schools
Individuals attending this course must arrive on time and stay the duration of the course in order to receive Act 48 Professional Education hours. Requests for exceptions are to be brought to the attention of the individual´s Superintendent or IU Director prior to the course.
