This training session was designed to provide information to professionals regarding how to educate children and adolescents with traumatic brain injuries (TBI) and non-traumatic brain injuries. The training is open only to team members who submitted applications and were accepted onto “BrainSTEPS Consulting Teams” within their respective Intermediate Unit Regions and who completed and passed the online BrainSTEPS: Concussion Return to Learn Training. The purpose of this training is to add new team member consultants onto currently existing BrainSTEPS teams across the state. After participating in this session, the team members will have guidelines and immediately applicable knowledge about programming for students with moderate to severe acquired brain injuries and the importance of annually monitoring the potential manifestation of new learning issues until graduation. BrainSTEPS consultants will acquire the knowledge needed to work with schools who are educationally programming for students sustaining both traumatic and non-traumatic acquired brain injuries. BrainSTEPS consultants will also possess the capabilities to assist in identifying brain injury resulting impacts in the classroom setting. Participants will have the opportunity to discuss case studies. Videos will be utilized throughout the training.
