This leadership conference will focus on current research and best practices to improve the quality of our early childhood services and experiences through the promotion of positive social-emotional development for all children and their families. Early childhood professionals, working across a wide range of roles and settings, will gain the latest knowledge in the field about eguity in our supportive approaches and the parallel of these approaches in our early learning environments. Participants will identify strategies for collaborating with new partners at the state and local level, connect with new resources for sharing within your agencies, and have an opportunity for future action planning to support quality program goals.

Objectives

Participants will:

  1. Define collaborative approaches for engaging families and community partners.
  2. Explore elements of developmental processes that are key to understanding the behaviors of young children.
  3. Identify strength based leadership skills to effectively support and advance OCDEL goals related to quality inclusive practices.
  4. Discuss strategies for forging relationships across child and family serving agencies to maximize experiences and expertise in promoting inclusive practices, reducing suspension and expulsion in early childhood settings and increasing positive social interactions between young children and the adults supporting them.

Target Audience

Invited participants from the following –Early Intervention, Early Childhood, and Behavioral Health Leaders, Family Leaders, Office of Child Development and Early Learning (OCDEL) Advisory Councils, Higher Education, OCDEL staff and TA partners.
