This session for IU Deaf-Blind Resource Teams is designed to address communication from two important but distinctly different perspectives. First, teams will explore and discuss communication skills and considerations that set the stage for effectively providing technical assistance to individual student teams. Then, presenters will lead teams to explore and discuss the forms, functions, content, and contexts that are crucial to understanding and addressing the communication needs of children/students with deaf-blindness.
Objectives
- Describe technical assistance services to teams and direct services to students.
- Identify three elements of effective consultation and team building.
- Identify four areas within the domain of communication for children/students with deaf-blindness
Target Audience
Special Educators, Teachers of Students with Visually Impairments, Teachers of Students Who are Deaf-Hard of Hearing, Speech Language Pathologists, Administrators.
