became the Director of Special Education for Midwestern Intermediate Unit IV on November 18, 2015. She is responsible for the financial and programmatic aspects of the Special Education Department. On February 22, 2017, Melissa received the Leadership Award at her IU. This award is presented to an individual that fosters and promotes the role and vision of a regional service agency. Prior to becoming the Director, she served as the Director of Nonpublic School Services for seven years beginning in March 2008. Before her time in nonpublic schools, she was a special education teacher at a local rural school district for 17 years teaching middle and high school students.
Melissa earned a Master's degree in Elementary Education at Edinboro University in 1997 and her second M Ed in Educational Leadership also at Edinboro University where she earned the Outstanding Graduate Student Award. She also holds her K-12 Principal Certification as well as Special Education Supervisory.
