Session Description:
This session will focus on using the activity of a read aloud to engage students who use AAC in participating in the reading process. Participants will explore choosing vocabulary, use a read-aloud process, learn about modeling, and questioning strategies. Resources will be shared.
Speaker Bio:
Kendra V. Bittner, M. Ed. is an IDEA Training and Consultation Assistive Technology (AT) Coordinator for the Allegheny Intermediate. She has a bachelor’s degree in Communication Disorders (Speech Pathology and Audiology), a master’s degree in Special Education with a Specialization in Deaf Education, a Supervisor of Special Education Certificate, and an Assistive Technology Applications Certificate from California State University at Northridge and is currently a doctoral student at Slippery Rock University. Her primary focus is on assistive technology, including the areas of communication, access, reading, writing, and Universal Design for Learning.
