School-Based Behavioral Health Programs: Installation of TIER 1 SWPBIS

 
I.  PURPOSE OF SCHOOL-BASED BEHAVIORAL HEALTH GRANT
 
The Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE), Bureau of Special Education is requesting proposals from Local Education Agencies interested in establishing programming efforts for School Wide Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (SWPBIS) for the 2020-2021 academic year.
 
The purpose of the School-Based Behavioral Health Grant is to:
 
(1)  Support the establishment of a continuum of School Wide Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (SWPBIS) that focus on universal prevention, strategic intervention (secondary intervention), and/or intensive service delivery or crisis management needs of school-aged students (tertiary intervention). 
 
(2) Bring together educational, clinical, protective, and correctional services in a conceptually integrated, multi-tiered system of support for behavior that utilizes a continuum of preventing and intervening services.

The purpose of the School-Based Behavioral Health Grant is to:
 
1. Support the expansion of a continuum of school-wide Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) that focus on universal prevention (tier 1), strategic intervention (secondary intervention / tier 2), and/or intensive service delivery or crisis management needs of school-aged students (tertiary intervention / tier 3).  Expansion in this regard refers to any of the following.

a. Advanced Tier Work focus on classroom systems/integration of MH services
b. Advanced Tier Expansion: Installing tier 2 and/or tier 3 systems and practice in at least one school that is implementing PBIS tier 1 with fidelity.


2. Bring together educational, clinical, protective, and correctional services in a conceptually integrated, MTSS for behavior that utilizes a continuum of preventing and intervening services.

Application | PA Installation and Implementation of RENEW – Rehabilitation for Empowerment, Natural Supports, Education and Work 2020-2021

Timeline | Applications must be received by September 30, 2021. LEAs will receive notification of acceptance or declination by October 10, 2020. The funding available to each successful applicant is not to exceed $4500 (September 1, 2021 through June 1, 2022), in which the following terms apply. 1. Upon acceptance, 25% ($1,125.00) will be released to the LEA 2. Through June 30, 2021, the recipient is eligible to request final 75% ($3,375.00) dispensation for remainder of overall stipend award contingent upon the submission a) end-of-year summary, b) two semesters worth of RENEW Student Tracker Data per student engaged in RENEW, c) RENEW Integrity Tool Data, and d) RENEW Implementation Checklist data.
