Pennsylvania Community on Transition

COP-revised-logo.pngThe Pennsylvania Community on Transition is a group of various stakeholders from across Pennsylvania who work collaboratively to ensure appropriate transition outcomes for Pennsylvania youth and young adults.

The Pennsylvania Community on Transition is a state leadership team consisting of representative from: the State Departments of Education, Health, Labor and Industry, and Human Services; Various Serving Agencies, Young Adults, Parent Organizations, Advocates, Higher Education, and Employers.

The shared vision and common goals of the Pennsylvania Community on Transition is achieved when all PA youth and young adults with disabilities:

  • Successfully transition to the role of productive and participating adult citizens

  • Are empowered to recognize their talents, strengths, and voice

  • Have equal access to resources that will promote their full participation in the communities of their choice.

    MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING

    This Memorandum of Understanding (“MOU”) is entered into by and between the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry (“DLI”), through its Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (“OVR”), and the Pennsylvania Department of Education (“PDE”), through the Bureau of Special Education (“BSE”).

    Memorandum of Understanding Regarding Transition Services Stakeholder Forum
    June 24, 2020
    1:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.

    During this stakeholder forum, interested parties will be afforded the opportunity to provide input into the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry, through the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (OVR) and the Pennsylvania Department of Education, through the Bureau of Special Education (BSE). The purpose of this MOU is to ensure that there is a plan of action requiring coordination and collaboration between OVR and BSE to support the transition of students with disabilities from high school to adult life to ensure requirements of The Workforce Investment Opportunity Act (WIOA) and The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) are met.

    The Department Of Labor and Industry along with The Department of Education is seeking public comment on their recently drafted Memorandum of Understanding Regarding Transition Services. Public comment will be taken between Wednesday, June 10, 2020 and close of business on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 using the following link https://fs25.formsite.com/3fHiZQ/MOU/index.html
