Responsive interactions - meaningful back-and-forth exchanges - shape social communication, language skills, and brain architecture. In this session, based on The Growing Brain: From Birth to 5 Years Old curriculum, we will explore research-based insights and practical strategies to foster healthy brain development through responsive, relationship-driven communication.

Objectives

Participants will be able to:

  1. Identify the concept of conversational turns and their role in language acquisition.
  2. Identify key social communication milestones and describe how they align with the PA Early Learning Standards.
  3. Develop an action plan to promote responsive, relationship-driven communication between young children and their families and caregivers.

Target Audience

This session is designed for Infant Toddler and Preschool Early Intervention Service Professionals, Early Childhood Education professionals, and Home Visiting/Family Support staff.
