This session is designed to introduce participants to the ASQ-3 and ASQ:SE-2. The benefits of developmental screening and the importance of engaging families in the screening process will be discussed. Participants will learn how to administer, score, and interpret the ASQ-3 and ASQ:SE-2. Strategies and resources for sensitively communicating screening results and planning next steps with families will be shared.

Objectives

Participants will:

  • List the benefits of developmental screening and the importance of including families in the process
  • Identify the steps of the screening process
  • Describe and complete ASQ administration, scoring, and interpretation
  • List strategies for sharing results and planning next steps with families

Target Audience

This session is designed for those who conduct developmental screenings of infants, toddlers, or preschool-age children and are interested in learning about the Ages and Stages Questionnaires. Information will be appropriate for both Infant Toddler and Preschool Early Interventionists and Family Support/Home Visiting professionals.
