This training session will provide Intermediate Unit TaC with an introduction to Universal Design for Learning (UDL), a framework developed by the Center for Applied Special Technology (CAST). Intermediate Unit TaC will leave with current resources and an understanding of the core tenants of UDL. The session will focus on learner variability and brain research using the principles and guidelines from the UDL framework.  

Objectives

·      - Discuss learner variability and identify barriers to learning

·      - Explain the science behind UDL and cite the supporting principles

·      - Compare and contrast UDL and differentiated instruction

·      - Create a working definition of UDL for communication with stakeholders
