This is an intensive hands-on training for teachers of students with visual impairments (TVIs) and certified orientation and mobility specialists (COMS). Participants will deepen their knowledge in Assistive Technology, and Independent Living Skills strategies and resources for students who are blind/visually impaired, including application for post-secondary instruction. Multiple opportunities to observe students at The Summer Academy for Students who are Blind or Visually Impaired, as well as other related ECC areas, will be provided.

Objectives

Participants will:
1. List two ways to teach students with visual impairments how to label clothing for identification.
2. Describe the correct adaptive technique used for cutting foods.
3. Identify the difference between Be my eyes and BeSpecular.
