The Supervisors Retreat day, Deaf-Blindness for Administrators, is designed for supervisors of vision and hearing professionals. It will address specific needs to operate a successful program that serves the needs of students who are deaf-blind. The event will focus on content current to the field of deaf-blindness. Sessions will address the impact of deaf-blindness on access to the curriculum and environment, as well as examine the differences between paraprofessionals, interveners, and interpreters and the specific professional development needs of all personnel. In addition, qualifications needed to be identified as deaf-blind and eligible to be reported on the annual Deaf-Blind Child Count will be discussed.
Objectives:
Participants will be able to:
1. Describe the impact of deaf-blindness on a student's access to the curriculum and their environment
2. Explain the differences between paraprofessionals, interveners, and interpreters
3. Explain the qualifications needed to be identified as deaf-blind and eligible to be reported on the annual Deaf-Blind Child Count
