In this session, we will review data trends and research surrounding equity and disproportionality in schools. We will unpack, understand, and apply the term implicit bias and its role in disproportionality in schools. An intervention approach will be reviewed for enhancing equity in school discipline that can be used in a classroom/school setting. Also, participants will be able to describe and practice an alternative response to reduce the effects of bias on decisions in education.
