Pennsylvania's School-Wide Behavior/Reading Intervention ModelThe Pennsylvania School-wide Reading/Behavior Intervention Model, funded through the U.S. Department of Education, has been implementing research-based, school-wide reading and behavior practices concurrently. This model includes the simultaneous application of benchmark, strategic, or intensive interventions for students in kindergarten through third grade who are currently experiencing difficulties learning to read, as well as demonstrating challenging behaviors. Addressing both reading and behavior concerns concurrently increases the likelihood of positive outcomes.

If change is to be sustained, it must be at the school-building level, where all faculty and staff members contribute their expertise, wisdom, and experience to a unified effort.
Four elementary schools are currently participating in the intervention model. School-based teams from these sites have participated in Pennsylvania's School-Wide Effective Behavior Support Training. These schools are implementing a cyclical process of:
A Procedural Manual is being developed to assist other schools in replicating this intervention model. Once complete, a link from this webpage will provide access to this manual.
