Recruitment
There is a shortage of teachers of students with visual impairments and orientation and mobility instructors. PaTTAN has produced a DVD titled Exploring Careers in the Field of Visual Impairment and other display materials with information about the field and how to obtain certification. The DVD has two parts. One part addresses exploring careers in the field of visual impairment. The second part contains interviews with teachers of students with visual impairments. A copy of the DVD or video can be obtained by contacting Debby Holzapfel at dholzapfel@pattan.net.  Click on this link to access the two parts of the DVD via streaming media on this website.

University Collaboration
With PaTTAN support, a web-based program to prepare teachers of students with visual impairments is being developed and implemented by the University of Pittsburgh, Vision Studies program. PaTTAN has provided support for the Pennsylvania College of Optometry to train teachers of students with visual impairments with add-on certification in the area of orientation and mobility. PaTTAN and Kutztown University are developing a visual impairment teaching recruitment video and materials for Pennsylvania.
